Pastor Josh

Pastor Josh here.

Pastor Josh

I would like to give you a preview of our Sunday morning service on November 3rd here at Middletown Baptist Church.

Pastor Josh

We're going to be continuing our study in Second Corinthians, and we're going to be in Second Corinthians chapter seven.

Pastor Josh

And we're going to be looking at verse number one.

Pastor Josh

It says this.

Pastor Josh

Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.

Pastor Josh

We're going to study what it means to understand the promises of God, specifically the promises of God that are mentioned in chapter six.

Pastor Josh

And what we talked about last week was separating ourselves from the influence of the world, separating ourselves from the ways of the world, and to be thinking biblically, to be thinking about what God would have us to think about.

Pastor Josh

And there are promises there.

Pastor Josh

And the promise comes in the last verse of 2 Corinthians chapter 6.

Pastor Josh

As God says, hey, when you do these things, when you step away from the influence of the world, when you step away from the association of the world, he says that we'll have a closer relationship with Him.

Pastor Josh

The Last verse of 2 Corinthians 6 says this, and I will be a father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.

Pastor Josh

So when the Lord gives us these promises, he's essentially saying, when you step away from the world and associate with me, we will have this close, meaningful, loving relationship and that's what he desires from us.

Pastor Josh

And so this week we're going to be looking at what it means to set aside our desires, set aside the influence of the world and cling to the Lord and understand what it means to grow in our understanding of him and grow in our holiness and grow in our spiritual condition.

Pastor Josh

So we hope to see you there on Sunday morning.

Pastor Josh

If you're able to be there with us, we would love to have you there in person at 10:30 on Sunday here at Middletown Baptist Church.

Pastor Josh

But if you're not able to be here in person, we do live stream on YouTube and Facebook and we repost this repost this sermon on Sunday mornings, Monday mornings here on the podcast channel.

Pastor Josh

So we hope to hear from you soon and we are praying for you and we pray that God will work in your life and will continue to show you what it means to know him and to love Him.

Pastor Josh

Well, we will hope you have a wonderful weekend.

Pastor Josh

We will see you Sunday.
